Launching "Powerful Women" Project

Farah Social Foundation and United Progressive Women are happy to announce the launch of "Powerful Women" project in partnership with Euromed Feminist Initiative funded by European Union Regional Trust Fund "MADAD" in partnership with RDFL, Care and Legal Action.

This project will target gender-based violence women survivors and youth girls to provide them with self-defense classes as a continuation to the workshops and awareness session done with women and girls in the community before. Awareness sessions on GBV and gender equality will be given to the selected women before they start self-defense classes to understand the importance of the classes. The classes will push to empower vulnerable refugee women and girls, and reduce the risks of violence and exploitation they face. After attending the self-defense class, women will feel more confident, secure and strong physically and psychologically, ready to defend themselves from different violent situations they face. The empowerment program (Self-defense classes) will be delivered to Syrian refugees and host community girls and women. The self-defense training will be given by an expert certified female trainer. It will include self-protection and self-awareness sessions over 4 months’ period once a week.

The project will be implemented in two regions: Aley and Beb al Tabbaneh.
