Powerful Women

Under the project "Strengthening access to protection, participation and services for women refugees and host communities” funded by European Union in Lebanon Regional Trust Fund "Madad", implemented with EuroMed Feminist Initiative in partnership with التجمع النسائي الديمقراطي اللبناني -RDFL, Legal Action Lebanon and Care international, Farah Social Foundation and United Progressive of Women conducted a 4 #gender_based violence awareness sessions for women and youth in Aley and Bab al Tabbaneh. In addition, women in Aley and Bab al Tabbaneh were given on self-defense classes.

The project aimed to empower vulnerable refugee and host communities’ women and girls across Lebanon and reduce risks of violence and exploitation they face. The project boosted the confidence, self-esteem and mental balance of women and girls, and felt stronger physically and psychologically ready to defend themselves from different violent situations. Also, it increased the awareness of the potential dangers of the streets. In addition, it reduced stress and decreased the feelings of anger and frustration.
